About the Dominion Institute
|
Our mission is to build active and informed citizens through greater knowledge and appreciation of the Canadian story.
History - In 1997, a group of young professionals, concerned about the erosion of a common memory and civic identity in Canada, formed the Dominion Institute - a national charitable organization dedicated to creating active and informed citizens through greater knowledge and appreciation of the Canadian story.
Using groundbreaking public opinion research and innovative TV, new media and in-school programs, the Institute helps hundreds of thousands of Canadians connect in meaningful ways with the country's history, shared citizenship and democratic institutions and values. The Institute's programs fall under three themes: memory, democracy and identity.
Operations - The Institute operates with a full-time staff of eight and annual revenues of more than $1.6 million. Revenues are generated from government, foundation and corporate grants.
Membership - Become a Dominion Institute member today. Support our work and stay in touch with Institute events and programs. Members receive the Dominion Institute Newsletter, invitations to local events and related Institute materials (twice annually). A membership is $10.00. Call 1-866-701-1867 or email staff@dominion.ca for a membership application.
Leaders' Council - A portion of the Institute's general programming, including public opinion research, special events and operating costs, is offset by the financial assistance of our Leaders' Council, a group of prominent Canadian foundations and organizations. Call 1-866-701-1867 for more information.
