London, Ont. (Friday, Jan. 26, 2007) - The St. Michael's Majors couldn't keep up with the high-flying London Knights this evening. The home squad rang off four goals during the 2nd period and skated off with a 6-0 win. As a result, the Majors record shifts to 14-31-1-1 on the year. The only goal of the 1st period came off the stick of London's Jakub Korinek, at the 10:33 mark, with Sam Gagner notching the lone assist. However, their offence quickly sprang to life in the middle frame, courtesy of Patrick Kane even-strength and power-play goals at 0:09 and 1:43, respectively, an Adam Perry marker at 6:08 and a Matt Clarke goal at 11:21. The helpers on these tallies were credited to Gagner (2) and Kevin Montgomery (2).
The Majors finished strong, outshooting the Knights 12-7 in the 3rd period. However, Kane's hat trick goal at 3:30, off of a Perry feed, sealed the deal.
Wayne Savage got the start in net for the Majors and finished the night with 28 saves. Steve Mason responded with 37 stops to earn the shutout for London. The Majors didn't get any assistance from their power-play, going 0 for 8 in the game. The game's three stars were Kane (1st), Gagner (2nd) and Mason (3rd).
The Majors return to the friendly confines of St. Mike's Arena to host the Plymouth Whalers on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. This game will be Latvian Day, so come out and join the festivities!
