For Thanksgiving weekend, there will be a lot of traffic delays on St. Clair.
Beginning at 9:30 am Friday October 6th, 2006, southbound traffic on Avenue Road will be closed through the St. Clair Avenue intersection. At 7:00 pm. northbound traffic through the St. Clair intersection will be closed. The partial closure will be in effect until 5:00 am Tuesday, October 10th.
There will be no left hand turns onto Avenue Rd north and south. One eastbound and one westbound lane along St. Clair Ave West will remain open.
Make sure you plan extra time to get across St. Clair Ave West by the surface routes and motorists are encouraged to use Yonge St and Mt. Pleasant to the east and Spadina Rd and Bathurst St. to the west.
If you are using the surface routes on St. Clair and boarding westbound buses at either Bathurst St. or Vaughan Rd, please be very careful.
The St. Clair north sidewalks from west of Loblaws to the corner of Vaughan Rd have been ripped up and metal barriers and plastic pylons have been used to separate pedestrians from the vehicle traffic.
There is not much room for people walking and people waiting for the buses causes something of a pedestrian traffic jam.
Please keep your eyes open and be aware of where the cars and trucks are, especially if they are turning right onto either Bathurst St. or Vaughan Rd.
And lastly, the Spadina Rd intersection at St. Clair Ave will be completely closed on Sunday, October 15th, 2006 for the Toronto Marathon.
Again, please give yourself extra time to get to your destination.
